Making the Move to greenpenny.bank for Added Security

On the evening of August 9th, greenpenny.com will be moving to greenpenny.bank. This change will not disrupt any banking services, nor will there be any noticeable website changes, but it will offer additional security and consumer protection.

Why Make the Change?

By moving to a .bank domain, hackers are unable to create lookalike domains for spoofing and phishing attacks, lessening the chance our customers could be duped by a scammer.

Website spoofing means that a person can create a replica of a trusted site with the intention of misleading visitors to a phishing site. Hackers can then steal your information if you log into online banking or another trusted service, on the spoofed website. Most people do not know that “.com,” “.org,” and “.net” sites are much easier targets for phishing attacks because anyone can purchase these types of domain names.

You’re likely familiar with domains such as “.edu” and “.gov,” which must first prove they are legitimate educational institutions or government entities and be verified before they are granted access to those domains. “.Bank” is another one of those protected domains which ensures that only banks who have completed the authentication process (which we did) can register for this type of domain.

How Does This Impact You?

There will be minimal noticeable impact to your banking functions. No disruption to online banking, automatic loan payments or other greenpenny services.

However, if you are a user that has saved your online banking login information in your browser (no, you really shouldn’t do that…but we’re realistic, we know a lot of you have), that information is tied to greenpenny.com and will not automatically move to greenpenny.bank. Make note of your login credentials before you access online banking for the first time at greenpenny.bank to ensure you can login using the new URL.

If you need to reset your password, simply click on “Forgot Password” under the login box and follow the prompts to reset your password. Or call Customer Support at 888-GPENNY0 (888-473-6690) and our team will be happy to assist you.

.bank in Correspondence & Communication

Beginning August 10th, all correspondence will now come from “@greenpenny.bank”. If it’s not from .bank, it’s not from us.

Go ahead and update your contacts and spam filters to receive emails from greenpenny.bank. We will still receive communication that is sent to a “greenpenny.com” email, but now would be a great time to update your contacts.

Committed to Customers

The decision to move to .bank was based on our commitment to care for customers and their security. At the heart of who we are, we are a community bank and always on the lookout for ways to make your lives easier and safer. Working together, not only will we protect our collective financial resources, but use them to continue our mission of financing a sustainable tomorrow.

Questions?

Whether you have questions about the move to .bank or a banking concern, we’re here for you! Give us a call at 888-GPENNY0 (888-473-6690) or email us and we’ll be happy to help.
