About Me

Family:

I grew up with one older sister, and we probably caused our parents to have more gray hairs than they deserve! So, as my parents recently became empty nesters, you know they are loving every minute. I have a teddy bear Shih Tzu named Benji, who likes to go for walks and car rides whenever possible.

Favorites:

Minnesota and Wisconsin are minutes away from my hometown, and Illinois can be reached within a couple hours, so my sports fandom knows no bounds. I love watching Iowa Hawkeye football, but I will watch the Cyclones on the bye week. For the NFL, one side of my family roots for the Vikings and the other side roots for the Packers. I cheer for both…until that inevitable day when they play each other, then it’s Vikings all the way. Baseball, what can I say? The Cubs are going to win today!

Hobbies:

Volleyball. I play year-round and coach in the winter and spring. In my free time, I enjoy making personalized woodworking projects or watching an ‘80s movie, sometimes both at the same time!

Superpower:

My work ethic. Not just at greenpenny, but outside of work too. I recently completed my EMT certification, something totally outside my education or work experience. While it was tough, I am a believer that putting in the work every day, leads to a rewarding outcome and the more people I will impact in my life.

Can't live without:

Besides oxygen, I cannot live without my family and friends – they are my biggest support system.

Fun fact:

My nickname is “Buff”. When I was little, my older sister was not able to pronounce my name correctly. Instead of “Bethany”, she said, “Buffany”. Over time, the name was cut short and it stuck. My entire family still calls me “Buff”.
